FAQs
Why are we replacing this celebrated playground?
In Groton, where we have over 24 playgrounds and an abundance of open space to enjoy, it’s important to keep our play areas safe and fun for our active residents. Dedicated in 2008, this playground equipment is now over 16 years old and has become worn out or damaged, potentially making it unsafe for our kids. By updating the playground, we can introduce new features that encourage truly inclusive design, physical activity, social skills, and imaginative play. Listening to community feedback is essential, as it helps us understand what families want, prompting us to invest in improvements that better serve the Groton community.
How will this be achieved?
To help make this playground a reality, we're forming a team of 8-10 community leaders who will meet regularly over the next year or so to plan. They'll work on fundraising, gather feedback from the community, and work with a designer to create exciting designs for the new playground. We'll also set up ways for everyone to stay updated and provide feedback, like social media pages and community meetings. Once we finish designing the playground and get the necessary permits, we'll start building it and make sure everything is safe and fun. Finally, we’ll celebrate with a big opening event for everyone to enjoy!
