Say hello to Groton’s Gill – a striking new sculpture made with love to help remind us all of something very important: Keep our beaches beautiful and trash-free!
This unique installation isn’t just art – it’s a symbol of our shared responsibility to protect Groton’s stunning shoreline. Gill’s message is simple but powerful: Trash left on the beach can harm sea life, pollute the water, and ruin the experience for everyone who comes to enjoy this natural treasure. From tangled turtles to sick seabirds, plastic and litter pose real dangers to our ecosystem.
But together, we can turn the tide.
How You Can Help:
· Pick it up: If you see trash, please dispose of it in the beachside bins.
· Pack it in, pack it out: Whatever you bring with you, take it back or throw it away responsibly.
· Educate and inspire: Share Gill’s message with family, friends, and beachgoers.
Every bottle cap, plastic bag, and candy wrapper you dispose of properly is a small act of love for our coast – and a big win for marine life.
#TrashFreeGroton is more than a campaign – it’s a community movement to protect the natural beauty that makes Groton so special. Thanks to the Beautification Committee and artist Clint Wright, Groton’s Gill is here to keep us inspired all summer long.
Because a clean beach is a happy beach – and that’s something we can all take pride in.
