Help beautify Groton

Submarine / military mural

I'm not sure if my previous submission went through but i suggested to have a mural painted on one of or both sides of the walls underneath the train bridge located close to the corner of Fairview Ave and Bridge St. This particular street is often traveled by Eb workers, and also it leads to Military Highway. So i believe this location is perfect. I do realize it's a bigger project but i think in the long run it will be worth it!

This is an example idea- paint the utility boxes!

Murals displaying our history with the sea: boat/shipbuilding to submarines. Covers Thames to Mystic Rivers. Also our indigenous people.

less murals, especially those done only in paint, more mass planting other than flowers.

unless done in more durable materials than paint, murals require frequent attention, and in their commonly degraded state, are more commonly found in efforts to beautify slums, which is not what we're looking for. Flowers are great when there isn't much room, but also mass landscape planting (larger groupings of shrubs and ground covers) gives a lot of bang for the buck, and a great impression.

What about using the chain link by the old Fitch Middle school along Rte 1 / Long Hill Rd to highlight Groton residents' creativity.
