Cannabis in Groton
Consultation has concluded
Recreational marijuana became legal in CT as of July 1, 2021. Now, every town and city in CT may approve zoning to allow for cannabis establishments, including retailers and micro-cultivators, to operate in their community.
The Groton Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) took action in October 2021 to prohibit all cannabis establishments to give them time to work on regulations. Today, they are working with a team of planners from Horsley Witten to scope the framework for new cannabis regulations, including location, size and scale, safety and aesthetics, and other concerns.
Work on Groton Cannabis regulations is expected to continue through the year.
