Join staff from the Town of Groton's Office of Planning and Development Services Department for an engaging and insightful monthly workshop series, "Groton Community Conversations" where we delve into key aspects of community development. Each month, we will welcome a new speaker who will focus on a specific theme to facilitate meaningful community discussions and understanding. Our goal is to explore the factors that contribute to a thriving community and empower participants to actively shape the future of Groton. These community conversations will begin with a short topic presentation and then break out into topic themed community discussions, led by members of the community to help identify solutions and creative ways to manage Groton’s ever changing landscape.

  • February 22nd - Growth, Change, & Quality of Life
    • Explore the interconnected elements of community growth and change, with a focus on enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. Featuring guest speaker Don Poland, an expert in land use planning and community development.
  • March 28th - Shaping the Future of Groton
    • Envision the future of Groton and discuss strategies and initiatives that can shape the community's development in a positive and sustainable way. Featuring guest speaker John Guszkowski, an expert in urban planning.
  • April 25th - Home Matters
    • Address the crucial issue of housing within the community, examining affordability, accessibility, and diverse housing options to meet the needs of all residents. Featuring guest speaker Mike Goman, an expert in housing and real estate.
  • May 29th - Civics 101
    • Provide an accessible and informative session on the fundamentals of civics, helping participants understand the mechanisms of local governance and civic participation. Featuring guest speaker Deanna Rhodes, Director of Planning and Development Services in Norwich, CT.
