What’s PQ Play Day All About?
PQ Play Day is a celebration of play, community, and giving back. This family-friendly field day is filled with color runs, classic games, silly challenges, music, food, and smiles—all in support of building a new playground at Poquonnock Plains Park, Oct 4 10-1.
Celebrating PLAY
Play isn’t just a break from learning or chores—it’s how children develop physically, emotionally, and socially. It builds resilience, teaches cooperation, encourages imagination, and supports mental health. Even adults benefit from play: it helps reduce stress, build relationships, and spark joy. A playground isn’t just a park feature—it’s a public commitment to wellness, equity, and connection. By supporting PQ Play Day, you’re helping create a vibrant, inclusive space where kids can be kids, and families can thrive together.
Our Goal Statement:
How can we reimagine the aging Tercentennial Legacy playground at Poquonnock Plains Park with a state-of-the-art, fully inclusive park renovation that is able to handle climate stresses and:
Encourages safe and inclusive outdoor play for toddlers to teens;
Celebrates creativity by integrating art and musical elements;
Provides comfortable spaces for caregivers and family;
Enhances community engagement and inclusivity; and
Is a family-friendly addition to the park?
Fomente el juego al aire libre seguro e inclusivo para niños pequeños y adolescentes;
Celebre la creatividad integrando elementos de arte y música;
Ofrezca espacios cómodos para cuidadores y familias;
Mejore el compromiso comunitario y la inclusividad; y
Sea una adición familiar y acogedora al parque
