The Town of Groton Small Business Pivot Grant Program was a strategic initiative aimed at empowering local small businesses to adapt and flourish in response to evolving market demands, particularly those brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The program supported essential investments to help businesses enhance operations, revamp strategies, and navigate an ever-changing economic landscape.
Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”), the program provided limited, one-time financial reimbursements of up to $5,000 for eligible expenses — and up to $1,500 for aesthetic improvements. These grants played a key role in helping Groton’s small business community build resilience, stimulate economic growth, and contribute to a vibrant local economy.
All available grant funds have now been awarded, and we sincerely appreciate the overwhelming interest in the program. We are proud to support Groton’s local businesses whenever possible and remain committed to fostering opportunities for innovation and growth.
Eligible businesses included those actively operating in Groton for at least 24 months, with fewer than 500 employees, and able to demonstrate negative impacts resulting from the pandemic. Reimbursed expenses included a wide range of strategic investments—from infrastructure and equipment upgrades to marketing and contingency planning, including flood preparedness improvements. (For ongoing preparedness resources, visit the Stay Afloat: Flood Preparedness Toolkit).
Thank you to all who applied and participated in the program.
